HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

So the first day is done ! Its almost eleven am here in Singapore day two and I just woke up. Yesterday was so busy but so amazing. The people I’m staying with are incredibly nice and the apartment is absolutely beautiful.
There was a slight hiccup with our luggage as in it never made it Singapore but rather stayed in Tokyo, Japan on our way here. Luckily it was found and we are supposed to get it today so excitement for that! Thank goodness our carryons had some clothes in it. ((We did do some laundry though to make out clothes last longer in case our suitcases took a bit getting here.)) Despite that slight problem, the first day was a success.
Yesterday they taught me how to use the public transit system and how “top off” my bus card, or add money to it. We went to several malls and ate at a Chinese restaurant at one of them called “Din Tai Fung.” We had dumplings, rice, noodles, and even a dessert made out of peanut butter balls.
After we walked around some more, we all ended up going back to the apartment to rest. (This time difference is killer.) I ended up watching “The Office” on Netflix in the living room with all my cousins.
Later we took the MRT to place called “Lau Pa Sat”, a festival market that’s only open at night an don weekends. They close down a section of the streets and mark it off specifically so people can sit there as they are served food. We had chicken, beef, mutton, and prawn satay, or cooked meat on sticks with a interesting type of bread, almost like a pancake, called prada. We also had all kinds of vegetables and things~
After we finished eating, we walked to close to the Marina Bay Sand Resort, a hotel known for their “Infinity Pool.” ((You should definitely look it up! It’s beautiful 😀 ))
There, we waited for several hours for their annual fireworks. It was huge and crowded and their was a rave type of celebration happening very close to us. There were Chinese singers, a very talented DJ, and even Cee Lo Green. We weren’t able to get the best pictures because we didn’t have tickets but the music was pretty good and made the wait more fun to endure. Finally the fireworks went off into a beautiful display that words can’t describe. The filled the sky in many bright, sharp colors as they played loud oriental and traditional music from the stage.
Trying to get home was very interesting in the way that it took us almost three hours. If you didn’t know before, Singapore is about the size Boyd County, but is the third most densely populated country in the world. ((I think I read it was like 300 million people on an area of 600 km.)) We made a Congo line and held on tightly as we maneuvered thought the huge crowds leaving the area. We all walked together and even took a bus for awhile to hopefully get us closer to our apartment in Jurong East but to no avail. After, we split up and my group continued on with our journey and tried hail cabs on the side of a street by a Buddhist temple for at least half an hour to an hour. When that didn’t work out, several of the free cabs passing us up, we found a taxi queue and called one to pick us up. We eventually made it home around a quarter to three this morning. Definitely the most interesting New Years I’ve ever had but it was extremely fun and I enjoyed it a lot.
The first day went well and now day two is getting ready to start. Let’s hope it goes well too! Thank you! 😀

((Since I am using mobile to post for right now, I cannot upload pictures. However, when I get my laptop, I will be able to upload pictures from yesterday and today and so on.^^))
